- "As early as 1827, John Westfall purchased 320 acres of land in Wayne Co., MI, from Ambrose and Clarissa Spear of Macedon, NY. He became a prosperous farmer in the Plymouth, Wayne Co., MI, area and was involved in numerous land transactions. It was a shock to his family and to the community when he took his own life in 1866. A good friend wrote a poem, published in the Plymouth Mail newspaper, eulogizing John. His wife, Mary, and three grown children were mentioned in John's will." [findagrave.com].
